Food Photos

In all of my photos I did not use natural lighting. I choose to use artificial lighting and I am happy with the results. I constantly change the position of the camera, the lights and the food to make sure I got the best results out of many photos that were taken. To make the food look more pleasing, I used simple tricks such as rubbing oil on an able so the water droplets won’t run off the apple. I also made good use of editing tools such as the stamp tool to remove any spots on plates and using the burn tool to darken the crust of an apple pie.

Dyptich with interaction

For this set I want to include my cat. I an feed my cat her favorite treat and other pictures shows me gripping my wrist in pain because she stock her claws into my skin. The funny thing is I wasn’t posing, she ready did injure me and I was in pain. This is a real pain face.

In this set I had my mom throwing playing cards in the air like she is having fun and then she has to deal with the consequences of picking the cards off her shirt and out of her hair.

In this set I had my mom use my camera to pose as if she is taking a photo and then she is posing.

Selective Coloring

For this assignment I took my picture of a wine bottle and duplicated the layer in the Fireworks program. Them with one layer in black and white, I erases the wine label so the colored layer will show up. I think my work is okay.

Book Series

That series is about the different books I read and own. I used natural lighting from the sun like coming through the dining room window. I like to read as a hobby and I like how my pictures came out.

What's a Series?

For my "what is a series" I choose photographer Tim Flach. Tim Flach's photography focuses in the field of animals. I like his work because I love animals and not a lot of photographers fuscous on animals. It’s good to see something new in photography besides boring people.

A bat from his book "Menagerie"

Tim Flach was born in London in 1958, where we works and lives with his family today. He is recognized internationally for his photos of animals. The first two books Equus and Dogs: Gods, will be published on his work in 2012. Tim Flach’s work comes to life with the help of Photoshop. He takes the original picture and then uses Photoshop tools such as the dodge tool to make the pictures lighter or darker in certain places.

Post

This is a photo I took while me and my mom were riding in the car to New York. I feel like the picture has good focus and  good lighting for a photo that was taken from a moving video. Im happy with the photo.

Surrealistic Photo Montage

Fear of commitment
In my photo I wanted to incorporate a dark comedy. I was kind of thinking about how funny is that some women in society are desperate to get married. The woman is so motivated that she doesn’t notice all the madness that’s going on around her. The guy is holding on for dear life. I like how my picture came out.

Surrealistic Theme

In my montage I want to have the setting of being in inferno. I want it to be creepy but still not have the meaning lost. I want my surrealistic picture to be a wedding in the inferno. I will have hands reaching out, skulls on ground, there will be a demonic witch over seeing the event from the side, there will be eyes watching the couple as they walk up the stairs and in the middle of all this chaos, there will be an arc that a couple will be making their way to. For this assignment I will use picture from the internet and I will take a few pictures of my cat’s eyes.

ReCreate Childhood

Surrealist Artist Inspiration

Max Ernst- Born on April 2, 1891 in Cologne. He was a painter and a sculpture. He began studying classical philology but then became interested in art and literature through the 1912. He fought in World War I in France and Poland, and recovered from clinical death, an experience which was to deepen his decision to take up art. In 1922 Ernst moved to Paris and helped found Surrealism. He died April 1, 1976, Paris, France.

Artist Name- Max Ernst
Title- The Temptation of St. Anthony
Date- 1945

Description- Creatures with sharp teeth crawling from under plants and coming out of ways. They are darker than the colourful environment around them. There are bright coloured plants in the foreground as well as the creatures. I can see a statue, a lake and a cliff in the background.
Analysis- The way the artist lined the dark creatures against the bright plants makes the picture eye catching. The fact that I can’t really see the statue clinging to the stoner pillar in the backgrounds makes me wonder “what is that?” and I want to know what it is.
Interpretation- The art work seems to show some form of pollution. Here you have what could be a beautiful, peaceful scene but it is plagued by these undesirable creatures. There are crawling out of the landscape. Some of the creatures are a part of the landscape. It’s like the environment is coming to life.
Judgment- I like the painting. It’s very creative and colorful but not to the point of being blinding.

Hans Bellmer- Born in Kattowitz in 1902. He worked in steel factory and a coal mine after finishing the examinations qualifying for university admittance. In 1922-1923, Bellmer managed to some art work and exhibit it in Poland. He studies engineering at Berlin Polytechnic and dropped out of engineering in 1924. At this time he worked as a book printer and then an illustrator for Malik Verlag. Bellmer died in 1975 in Paris.
Artist Name- Hans Bellmer
Title- La Poupée
Date- 1936

Description- A black and white scene of a doll that is only composed of two torsos. I see the doll’s reflection in the mirror.
Analysis- The way the photographer caught the lighting from the window highlights the subject or doll. The dark background really draws attention to the doll.
Interpretation- this pictures meaning seems kind of abstract, it could mean anything. I think in some strange way it could show ignorance. It shows a body that structured in an incorrect manner. It’s lying on the floor because it doesn’t have a brain to move and to add insult to injury, it doesn’t have a face to see how incorrect of a being it is in the reflection of the mirror.
Judgment- I like the photo. It’s very creepy and I can appreciate creepy art. It’s also simple unlike most paintings; it says “here is a doll in a room and in front of a mirror.” It also reminds me of some of the monsters from the Silent Hill movie, which is pretty cool.
Compare & Contrast- these two artists have different styles of art work. Ernst’s work is very complex and requires numerous and close glances to see all the detail. While Bellmer’s is style seems simpler yet still complex in meaning like Ernst’s. They both have well used techniques and used them in different ways. For Ernst, his technique was the use of different color contrast and Bellmer’s technique is his ability to catch the subject in good lighting.

Partner Portrait

"Temptations, the secret to its irrisistible  flavor is inside each bag."

For the partner project I took multiple shots of my partner zuly and pick the one that was the most sucessful. I asked my mom to help me take the background photo of me feeding my cats their favorite treat. I think the photo is funny wuth my cat licking his lips for a treat while zuly is about to escape from the bag.

David Hockney Inspired Collage

Hockney mom 2

Hockney House 1
For the Hockney 2 photo of my mom I had my mom stand against a wall while I took her picture. I first took close portions of her face while she was face forward, then I took pictures of her facing to the right and then looking up. She even tried to have fun by sticking her tongue out in one of the photos. I know that same parts of her face are different tones but color curves couldn't fix it. Honckney one is just me taking pictures of my ugly house.

Portrait Series

This portrait series shows how important my cats are to me. I choose to keep most high key because it gives off a more pleasant feeling. The use of black and white was used to show emotion of the cat in that situation.

Artist Inspirations

Artist: Garbage (I can't read the name in the corner), Kuroshitsuji (black butler)
This picture is from an armature artist that submitted this artwork to zerochan.net. The drawing is based off an anime show know as black butler in english. Its shows one of the characters known as the undertaker, is holding his victim. I think the picture is very beautiful with the way dark color contrast and light color contrasts are used. It also looks very romantic.
Artist: kandiart, Watching the night sky
I choose this picture because the sky looks beautiful and it gives you a calm feeling.

Image of Siberian Tiger lounging in the sun on a beautiful day.
Artist: jaysunlp, tiger laying down
I love tigers, which is why I choose this photo. The way it's laying down reminds me of my moms cat.
Photo of Black Leopard is a predator cat on earth. They are supreme tree climbers and can leap to 6-8 meters up a tree trunk from the ground.
Artist: DarrenGreen
This picture reminds me of my grandma's cat because she is also all black and has green eyes.

Artist: Michael K. Nichols
I choose this picture because it looks so cute.
